Let&#039;s say that the City Council lays another million dollars of taxes on us.  There are more than 5,000 residential properties and about 200 commercial properties in Northfield...but I&#039;ll admit I&#039;m going for easy arithmetic.  Putting that on the residential properties would be $200 each.  Laying it all on the commercial properties would be $5,000 each.

The bottom line is that residential and commercial properties are taxed at different rates.  So a $300,000 residential property pays much less in taxes than a $300,000 commercial property.

After meeting with Tom Nueville and Tom Grundhoefer, as well as folks from Rice County, and talking with building owners, we&#039;ve developed a plan.  We&#039;re ready to share it.
