The Excitement Continues…

…in Downtown Northfield.

As our beloved retailers pack up the last few remaining bargains, music begins to take over the streets of downtown. Crazy Daze winds down as the Vintage Band Music Festival gets cranked up.

Here’s The Brassworks Band performing in Bridge Square.

When am I going to remember to bring my camping chair? From the looks of the crowd, I’d guess I’ve got about 20 years before I get the system down for full appreciation of a community band concert scene.

The Vintage Band Music Festival has begun!

As I continued to pick up bargains at Crazy Daze, I heard an unfamiliar sound coming from south Division Street. I strolled down a block and found the source; the Rocky Mountain Swiss Alphorn Trio was just finishing a performance in front of the Historic Society.

There’s a lot more music to come over the next five days. Check the Vintage Band Festival website, the Northfield News’ Diversions section or the Special Edition of the Northfield Entertainment Guide for details.

An unidentified person was spotted at about 7 am this morning, kicking off Crazy Daze with a purchase of one of those delicious Alaskan Doughnuts from Quality Bakery.

Although he declined to give his name, he did volunteer “I wait all year for these things”.

Surely this is Just a Coincidence

Digging through old images to illustrate yet another mention of Crazy Daze, I found the photograph to the left.

Yes, it would appear that it’s the folks from the Quality Bakery Holding up an Alaskan Doughnut.

No, I don’t think that it’s the international symbol for “Ross, come here”…

…but come on down(town) tomorrow, Thursday, starting at 7 am, and find out for yourself.

I guess I wasn’t Paying Enough Attention

…to the arrangements for the Opening Ceremonies of the Vintage Band Music Festival.

As Paul Niemisto demonstrates here, you ignore the Music Man at your own risk.

The doors open for the welcome ceremonies at 4:30 pm (cash bar at The Grand) and the Opening Festival Concert, featuring The Brassworks Band from San Francisco, California, begins at 7 pm in Bridge Square.
