ArtSwirl is a Comin’

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

ArtSwirlAcoming.jpgThe ArtSwirl banners are up in Downtown Northfield…

…it must be that time of year again.

Indeed, it’s the Fourth Annual ArtSwirl, ten days of celebrating Northfield’s “diverse array of music, dance, theater, literary and visual arts”.

It starts with a Gallery Reception for “A Look at Now: Painting, Drawing and Sculpture” by Jill Ewald, Northfield artist and director of St. Olaf College’s Flaten Art Museum, Thursday, August 2nd, from 6 to 9 pm at the Northfield Arts Guild, 304 Division Street.

It continues the next morning, with the final performance of this year’s Young People’s Theater Workshop, Friday, August 3rd, 10 am, at the Northfield Arts Guild Theater, 411 W. Third Street, with five plays centered around “American Pi”.

There’s yet more swirling around the official festival kick-off with a beach party for the whole family. Build sand castles in Bridge Square Street and roast marshmellows around a campfire in Bridge Square while listening to The Zillionaires and Meredith Fierke.

Oh, but there’s so much more…see the full schedule at the Northfield Arts Guild.

Craziness Continues

CrazyLunchAtJoes.jpgHere’s a scene that is a favorite for many folks at Crazy Daze, eating a Grundhoefer Burger on Division Street.

Okay, so breakfast and lunch may have passed, there’s still much more to come…

…like the Waiters’ Race along Division Street, Classic Cars “south of 5th” on Division, Pie on the Square by the Northfield News on Bridge Square, a Dance Performance by the Northfield Academy on Bridge Square, ’50s and ’60s Music by KRDS on Division Street between 5th and 6th, and Songs of Hope, co-sponsored by the Northfield Public Schools, the Northfield Rotary Club, and the Northfield News on Bridge Square.

So come on down(town) and catch some of the Crazy Daze fun before it’s “wait ’til next year”.

Craziness Well Underway

CrazyMorning.jpgBy eight o’clock this morning (Thursday, July 6th) Crazy Daze was already a good hour old.

Smiles were aplenty on Division Street, as people sipped coffee, munched treats, greeted friends and neighbors, and checked out the bargains.

There’s a whole day’s worth of good times ahead, with entertainment activities scattered throughout the shopping and eating, so come on down(town) and join the fun.

Alaskan Fantasy

AlaskanFantasy.jpgDid someone say “Alaskan Doughnuts”?

It’s less than twenty-four hours away, that moment when I can chomp down on one of those delicious delights. I can visualize them in my mind, sitting on a counter at Quality Bakery, waiting to be carried out to the sidewalk.

I’ve been training hard; perhaps I can set a new PR and eat three of them this year. Oh, it better happen soon, I’m salivating on my keyboard.

Crazy Daze, Alaskan Doughnuts, Sidewalk Sales, Bountiful Bargains, Lots of Fun, tomorrow morning, in Downtown Northfield.
