The Key Art Opening…Oolala!

The kids from The Key (The Northfield Union of Youth) have put together a special Art Show at Oolala.  Their teacher, artist Erin O’Donnell (pictured here readying Andi Sison’s “Untitled (mouse)” for the opening), wanted these emerging artists to take the process “full circle” to a show of their work.

NDDC Board Visits Community Resource Bank

As part of their on-going business visit program, members of the NDDC Board of Directors dropped in on the Community Resource Bank.  President Don Kuehnast graciously gave generously of his time.

The bank has a long history in Northfield, going back to 1878.  Although Community has grown to include offices in Cannon Falls and Roseville, the base of operations remains in Northfield.  The bank has 75 employees and, as Don pointed out, uses a number of local vendors. (more…)

Northfield Native, Acclaimed Author

Minnesota Main Street Returns

Many of you know that the NDDC organization was based on the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Main Street Program.  Some you might be aware that I’ve been serving on the state steering committee to bring the Main Street Program back to Minnesota.  Well, we succeeded.

Earlier this month, the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota signed a contract with the National Main Street Center to officially launch Minnesota Main Street as the statewide coordinating program.  This action was taken based on an agreement with the Minnesota Historical Society for a $100,000 grant from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund to finance this work.
