Sounds like a great start to the weekend…the Carleton College Jazz Piano Studio. Pianist, composer, and teacher Laura Caviani will be hosting a performance by her Carleton jazz students at the Contented Cow, 5:00 to 7:00 this Friday. A terrific combo and several solo pianists will perform a variety of standards, blues, and even some original tunes. It’s always great to hear and support emerging artists who are keeping the jazz tradition alive, and this is your chance, in downtown Northfield.

It’s the Annual Imagination Celebration at the Northfield Arts Guild. This is a day of free art activities and performances at the Arts Guild, held in conjunction with the All-School Art Show. The art show features the work of Northfield’s youngest artists, from grades K-12, and their work is hung from floor to ceiling in the gallery…in downtown Northfield.

“Mayor of St. Paul” to Perform in Downtown Northfield

Martin Devaney, a.k.a. “The Mayor of St. Paul”, will perform Friday night in downtown Northfield. The critically acclaimed Davaney is part of the Rueb’N'Stein’s return to its historic role as a major local concert venue. Devaney is one of the highlights of a musical line-up that includes Jim Walsch’s “The Mad Ripple” and Brianna Lane. It’s all on Friday night at The Rueb.

The Northfield Historical Society will host an opening reception for their newest show, “The History of Telephones in Northfield,” Thursday, Feb. 23, with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. at NHS, 408 Division Street, Northfield. The exhibit will chronicle the history of telecommunications in Northfield and Dundas. The exhibit is sponsored by the St. Olaf College Telephone Co.
