Join the NDDC in their Annual Celebration

NDDCDowntownCelebrationOn Saturday, January 23rd, from 6 to 10 p.m., the NDDC will hold its Annual Partnership Celebration at the Grand Event Center, 316 Washington Street, in historic, scenic, authentic downtown Northfield.  It’s also the organization’s tenth birthday party.

The event (which is free and open to the public) features four local bands, performing original material: Scandium, Meredith Fierke, Matt Arthur & the Bratlanders, and TV & the Bellered Yellers.  The NDDC recognizes and celebrates this wealth of local artistic talent. (more…)

Thursday, December 3rd, it’s Winter Walk, 5 to 9 p.m., in Historic, Scenic, Authentic Downtown Northfield…enjoy caroling, dancing and music performances while you stroll through our beloved downtown, checking out the decorated shops and festive restaurants, along with the Festival of Wreaths and NAGcracker Dance Performance, 5 to 8 p.m., Northfield Arts Guild, Wake-Robin, 6 to 8 p.m., Bittersweet, Todd Thompson Trio, 8 to 11 p.m., the Tavern Lounge (riverside of the Archer House), Dolce Woodwind Quartet at the Contented Cow and Karaoke at Froggy Bottoms. Winter Walk This Thursday

President Anderson Raises Interesting Points

AndersonAtForumAt Tuesday’s Downtown Forum, St. Olaf College President David Anderson raised many interesting points.  Perhaps not surprisingly, there were echoes of some of the statements made by business people at the recent Chamber Forum.

Anderson opened his presentation with comments about the current state of the economy, which he termed “difficult”.  He noted the challenge of trying to plan during the last 18 to 20 months in an environment of unprecedented uncertainty. (more…)

THE Football Game is this Saturday

This Saturday, October 3rd, Carleton College hosts St. Olaf College in the Northfield Collegiate Football Championship.  The rivalry is one of college football’s oldest, going back to the first “official” game in 1918. (more…)
