Happy Thanksgiving from everyone at the NDDC! Enjoy the holiday and travel safely wherever your journey may take you. Remember the Turkey Trot Thanksgiving morning if you’re a runner. Starts at 9 a.m. at the Golf Club.

Friday, start your holiday shopping and do it locally! Many downtown Northfield shops will have specials to peak your interests on Black Friday. And on Saturday, get ready for the first ever Small Business Saturday. If you’re an American Express cardholder, you can qualify for a $25 rebate for shopping at small businesses in the Northfield area.

Downtown Stakeholders Invited to Depot Design Charrette

On Friday, November 19 at 7 p.m. the public is invited to the Archer House Lower Level Conference Room for a discussion on efforts to relocate and restore the historical depot station off Highway 3 and Spring Street. Co-sponsored by the NDDC and organized by Save the Northfield Depot (STND), a new local 501 c 3, the session will present the group’s progress to date, site plan, and partnership concepts. Historic preservation and community planning expert John Lauber and local architect and STND Steering Committee member, Steve Edwins, will facilitate as part of a daylong design charette. Ah, in my mind it will be a waltz.  And the music will be provided by The Band, with appearances by Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Eric Clapton, Joni Mitchell, and Muddy Waters, along with a few others…including another Canadian.

For over 6o years, Tiny’s has served the people of Northfield.  Young and old, natives and aliens, carnivores and vegetarians…all were welcome.  On Saturday, July 31st, it all comes to an end.  Due to a variety of financial burdens, and the considerable challenges of running a small business, owner Tim Sellers is closing down.
