NDDC Board Visits Rare Pair

The NDDC Board’s most recent monthly business visit was to the Rare Pair.  With NDDC Board member Mark Quinnell and Rare Pair Owner Krin Finger, it was like Old Times at Northfield High.

Krin would seem to be pretty happy with Northfield.  She grew up here, married her high school sweetheart (first date was at The Grand when it was  movie theater), is raising a family here, and has owned and operated the Rare Pair for twenty years. (more…)

NDDC Board Visits Northfield Arts Guild

The NDDC made its first visit to a non-profit organization as part of the business visit program; the board visited the Northfield Arts Guild.  It may be a little out of the ordinary, however, NDDC board members realize that strengthening our community requires more than creative business development; non-profit and civic organizations also add vibrancy and vitality to our local economy. NDDC Board Visits Premier Bank

For our twelfth monthly business visit for 2010, the NDDC board dropped in at Premier Bank, located just up the east block of 5th Street from Division.  It’s so close to the Rueb’N'Stein that “J. Grundy” didn’t even have to put on a jacket. (more…)

NDDC Board Visits Granite Equity Partners

The NDDC’s most recent board visit was with Granite Equity Partners.  We had a very intellectually stimulating conversation with Partner Art Monaghan.

Granite Equity Partners was formed in 2001.  It operates 11 companies with a total of 1,500 employees within the region.  The focus is on the acquisition of family businesses looking to keep the control of the companies local and the direction of the companies based on Midwest values.  The headquarters is in St. Cloud and the firms located in Southern Minnesota and Iowa are managed out of the Northfield office.
