Thanks for the Great Party!

Our annual Partnership Celebration was a fun affair. Thanks to New Moon Trio and Area 51 for the great tunes. Thanks also to Board members who greeted folks at the door and sold raffle tickets. As always,Chuck Pryor and his staff at the Grand Event Center were excellent hosts.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the raffle and congratulations to our winner, Jeff Johnson. No, not NDDC Board member Jeff Johnson, the OTHER Jeff Johnson! Thanks most of all to our NDDC volunteers, Partnership Campaign donors, and Taste of Northfield sponsors. Great downtowns don’t just happen!

Interactive Downtown Map Now Available

National Walking and Biking Expert to Speak in Northfield

Steve Clark, Walking and Bicycling Program Manager for Transit for Livable Communities (TLC), will be in Northfield on Oct. 5. He will do an audit of nonmotorized infrastructure here early in the day and will share findings both at a 3:30 meeting with area leaders (by invitation) and a public lecture at 7 pm at the Northfield High School auditorium (for more details see Upcoming.org).

The organizers of the event, RENew Northfield, supported by the City of Northfield, the Healthy Community Initiative and the Northfield Downtown Development Corporation, hope to stimulate a discussion about steps Northfield can take to increase bike and pedestrian safety, including Safe Routes to School.

Steve is a nationally recognized expert on nonmotorized transportation and is currently managing the Nonmotorized Transportation Pilot Program for Minneapolis, which is one of four areas around the country to receive a $25 million grant from the federal government.

Left: We now have a PDF map of all the downtown bike racks (rotate clockwise after loading it in your browser).

Note: The Bike Rack Map will come in handy for this Friday’s Bring Your Bike to Work Day.

Right: And the Downtown Directory map (PDF) has been updated for 2006.

Both PDFs are featured on our homepage left sidebar as well as on our NDDC library/resources page.
